Red Square

18 Sep

We set out last night to check out чук и гик (“the only place to get comics in Moscow”) and grab some food.  While deciding where to eat,* we realized that we were only a few blocks from Red Square and decided to take a walk there after dinner.  It’s times like these when I still can’t fully believe that I live here.

I won’t comment too much other than to say that it was amazing to walk around and see buildings that have so much historical significance.  I have been wanting to see Saint Basil’s Cathedral since we arrived and, turns out, it looks just as much like something from Candy Lane in person as it does in photos.  We saw Lenin’s Tomb, but since we were there at night it was not open for viewing.  There were lots of statues and fountains in the surrounding area, as well, including the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Here are some photos from our visit:

до свидания!

* We unintentionally ended up at a Tex-Mex restaurant called La Cantina with an English menu and an English-speaking server.
